Obwohl wir alle l\u00e4nger leben m\u00f6chten, m\u00f6chten wir nicht, dass unsere letzten Jahre von Krankheit bestimmt werden. Obwohl viele Menschen mit der \u201eLebensdauer\u201c oder der Zeitdauer, in der jemand lebt, vertraut sind, kennen weniger den Begriff \u201eGesundheitsspanne\u201c. Healthspan bezieht sich auf die Zeitspanne, in der eine Person bei guter Gesundheit lebt, frei von chronischen Krankheiten, die h\u00e4ufig mit dem Altern verbunden sind. Dazu geh\u00f6ren Herzerkrankungen, Alzheimer, Diabetes und verschiedene Formen von Krebs. W\u00e4hrend die durchschnittliche Lebensdauer in den USA etwa 79 Jahre betr\u00e4gt, betr\u00e4gt die durchschnittliche Lebensdauer nur 63 Jahre. Um genetische Faktoren zu identifizieren, die mit Healthspan verbunden sind, wurden in dieser genomweiten Assoziationsstudie \u00fcber 300.000 Personen europ\u00e4ischer Abstammung untersucht.
