Es betrifft etwa 1 von 150 Menschen in unterschiedlichem Ma\u00dfe. Das Tourette-Syndrom ist als hoch vererbbar bekannt, wobei bis zu 80% des Krankheitsrisikos von den Eltern vererbt werden. Diese genomweite Assoziationsstudie versuchte, genetische Varianten im Zusammenhang mit dem Tourette-Syndrom zu identifizieren, indem \u00fcber 20.000 Personen europ\u00e4ischer Abstammung untersucht wurden. Eine der Top-Varianten befindet sich im FLT3-Gen, das ein Rezeptorprotein codiert, von dem angenommen wird, dass es eine Rolle bei den Funktionen des Immunsystems spielt.
