Menschen haben ungef\u00e4hr 350 Geruchsrezeptorgene, die jeweils eine Reihe verschiedener Geruchsverbindungen nachweisen k\u00f6nnen, die zusammen eine gro\u00dfe Anzahl verschiedener Ger\u00fcche erzeugen k\u00f6nnen. Wenn jedoch derselbe Geruch pr\u00e4sentiert wird, k\u00f6nnen verschiedene Personen die Intensit\u00e4t des Geruchs unterschiedlich wahrnehmen. Diese genomweite Assoziationsstudie untersuchte die Genome von \u00fcber 11.000 Isl\u00e4ndern, um die Genetik zu identifizieren, die den Unterschieden in der Wahrnehmung des Lakritzgeruchs zugrunde liegt, einer Zutat, die in einer Vielzahl von S\u00fc\u00dfigkeiten oder Bonbons enthalten ist. Die Studie fand eine Region des Genoms, die damit zusammenh\u00e4ngt, wie intensiv der Duft von Lakritz wahrgenommen wird. Diese Variante befindet sich in einem als OR6C70 bekannten Gen, das ein Geruchsrezeptor ist und Teil einer gr\u00f6\u00dferen Familie ist, die als OR6C-Rezeptoren bezeichnet wird.
