Es ist zu etwa 80% vererbbar. Diese genomweite Assoziationsstudie umfasste 1.893 Patienten mit dieser Hauterkrankung und 5.132 gesunde Personen aus dem Vereinigten K\u00f6nigreich. Die Studie identifizierte 3 genetische Varianten, die mit den Genen OVOL1, FST und TGF\u03b22 verkn\u00fcpft sind, die alle mit dem Signalweg der TGF\u03b2-Zellen assoziiert sind. Der TGF\u03b2-Signalweg (Transforming Growth Factor Beta) ist an zahlreichen Prozessen sowohl bei Erwachsenen als auch bei Embryonen beteiligt.
