Jahrhunderts. Der Body Mass Index (BMI), eine Berechnung, die auf der Gr\u00f6\u00dfe und dem Gewicht einer Person basiert, ist das h\u00e4ufigste Ma\u00df f\u00fcr Fettleibigkeit. Zu Beginn des Lebens schwankt der BMI \u00fcber drei verschiedene Zeitr\u00e4ume: einen H\u00f6hepunkt nach der Geburt, einen R\u00fcckgang bis zum Alter von 5 bis 6 Jahren und einen Anstieg bis zum Erwachsenenalter. Diese Studie untersuchte die genetischen Daten und BMI-Messungen von \u00fcber 22.000 Kindern europ\u00e4ischer Abstammung. Drei Varianten, die mit einem erh\u00f6hten BMI von Kleinkindern assoziiert sind, wurden entdeckt. Diese Varianten sind auch mit dem BMI bei Erwachsenen assoziiert, was darauf hindeutet, dass dieselben genetischen Faktoren beide beeinflussen k\u00f6nnten.
