Bei Erwachsenen betr\u00e4gt die Ruheherzfrequenz typischerweise 60 bis 100 Schl\u00e4ge pro Minute. Eine niedrigere Ruheherzfrequenz zeigt eine effizientere Funktion des Herzens und eine bessere Gesundheit an. Menschen, die k\u00f6rperlich sehr fit sind, zum Beispiel professionelle L\u00e4ufer, haben m\u00f6glicherweise eine Ruheherzfrequenz von nur 40 Schl\u00e4gen pro Minute! Umgekehrt kann eine erh\u00f6hte Ruheherzfrequenz ein Pr\u00e4diktor f\u00fcr Bluthochdruck, Herzerkrankungen und Herzinsuffizienz sein. Ziel dieser Studie war es, den genetischen Einfluss auf das Merkmal besser zu verstehen, indem die Genome von \u00fcber 265.000 Individuen verschiedener Vorfahren analysiert wurden.
