Wenn Allergene Entz\u00fcndungen in unseren Nebenh\u00f6hlen verursachen, beginnen wir zu niesen, bekommen tr\u00e4nende Augen und laufende Nasen. Diese als allergische Rhinitis oder Heuschnupfen bekannte Erkrankung ist die h\u00e4ufigste Form der Allergie und betrifft weltweit 400 Millionen Menschen. Um die genetischen Faktoren, die zur allergischen Rhinitis beitragen, besser zu verstehen, wurden in dieser genomweiten Assoziationsstudie \u00fcber 200.000 Personen europ\u00e4ischer Abstammung untersucht. \u00dcber das gesamte Genom hinweg identifizierten die Forscher 41 genetische Varianten, die mit dem Risiko einer Person, Heuschnupfen zu entwickeln, korrelieren. Unter diesen sind 20 neu entdeckt.
