Die Funktion der Gliazellen besteht darin, das Nervensystem zu sch\u00fctzen und zu unterst\u00fctzen. Gliome sind eine Krebsform, die aus dem unkontrollierten Wachstum von Gliazellen resultiert. Um Risikovarianten f\u00fcr diese Krankheit zu identifizieren, untersuchte diese Studie die genetische Information von \u00fcber 11.000 Personen westeurop\u00e4ischer Abstammung. F\u00fcnf mit dieser Krebsart assoziierte Varianten wurden entdeckt. Die Varianten wurden mit Genen verkn\u00fcpft, die eine Rolle bei der Aufrechterhaltung der genomischen Stabilit\u00e4t spielen.
