Viele Raucher sind auf Nikotin angewiesen. Anzeichen von Abh\u00e4ngigkeit sind Stimmungsschwankungen, Angstzust\u00e4nde und Unruhe nach dem Versuch, aufzuh\u00f6ren. Die Nikotinabh\u00e4ngigkeit ist ein hoch vererbbares Merkmal, aber bisher wurden nur sehr wenige assoziierte Genomregionen entdeckt. Diese Studie untersuchte \u00fcber 58.000 Raucher europ\u00e4ischer und afrikanischer Abstammung und identifizierte 5 Regionen des Genoms, die mit der Nikotinabh\u00e4ngigkeit zusammenh\u00e4ngen.
