Es tritt auf, wenn das Herz aufgrund der Vergr\u00f6\u00dferung und Schw\u00e4chung des linken Ventrikels kein normales Blut pumpen kann. Der linke Ventrikel ist eine Herzkammer, die f\u00fcr das Pumpen von Blut durch unser Kreislaufsystem verantwortlich ist. Diese Studie untersuchte 11.700 Personen europ\u00e4ischer Abstammung und fand eine genetische Variante am k\u00fcrzeren Arm von Chromosom 6 (6p21), die mit einer erweiterten Kardiomyopathie assoziiert ist. Die Variante kann mit Genen verkn\u00fcpft sein, die Proteine des Haupthistokompatibilit\u00e4tskomplexes codieren.
