Frauen haben zwei X-Chromosomen, w\u00e4hrend M\u00e4nner ein Y- und ein X-Chromosom haben. Bei M\u00e4nnern war der Verlust des Y-Chromosoms in einigen K\u00f6rperzellen, insbesondere in wei\u00dfen Blutk\u00f6rperchen, zuvor mit mehreren Erkrankungen verbunden, darunter verschiedene Krebsarten, Autoimmunerkrankungen, Diabetes und Herz-Kreislauf-Erkrankungen. Um genetische Faktoren zu bestimmen, die einen Mann f\u00fcr den Verlust von Chromosom Y pr\u00e4disponieren k\u00f6nnen, untersuchte diese Studie das Genom von \u00fcber 750.000 M\u00e4nnern europ\u00e4ischer und japanischer Abstammung. Ein nachweisbarer Verlust des Y-Chromosoms war bei etwa 20% der m\u00e4nnlichen Studienteilnehmer vorhanden. Die Studie identifizierte 156 Varianten, von denen 137 neu sind und die zusammen mehr als 30% der Heritabilit\u00e4t des Y-Chromosomenverlusts erkl\u00e4ren.
