Blutgerinnsel, die abbrechen und zu Organen gelangen, k\u00f6nnen zu lebensbedrohlichen Zust\u00e4nden f\u00fchren. Obwohl Blutgerinnung h\u00e4ufig ist, sind die dazu beitragenden genetischen Risikofaktoren kaum bekannt. Diese genomweite Assoziationsstudie untersuchte 200.000 Personen europ\u00e4ischer und afroamerikanischer Abstammung, um genetische Varianten zu identifizieren, die mit ven\u00f6sen Thromboembolien assoziiert sind. Die Studie entdeckte 14 neue Varianten, darunter 11 Varianten innerhalb von Genen, die zuvor nicht mit ven\u00f6sen Thromboembolien assoziiert waren. Viele dieser Gene wurden zuvor mit der Anzahl und Gr\u00f6\u00dfe verschiedener Arten von Blutzellen in Verbindung gebracht.
