Um die Aorta herum k\u00f6nnen sich jedoch Plaques bilden, die als &#8222;Calum-Ablagerungen&#8220; bezeichnet werden, was zu einer Verringerung des Blutflusses f\u00fchrt. Dieser Prozess charakterisiert die Aortenverkalkung, eine Erkrankung, die ein Indikator f\u00fcr eine Vielzahl anderer Herz-Kreislauf-Erkrankungen sein kann. Um ein besseres Verst\u00e4ndnis der genetischen Faktoren zu erhalten, die zu dieser Erkrankung beitragen, analysierte diese Studie die Genome von \u00fcber 17.000 Personen europ\u00e4ischer, afroamerikanischer und hispanischer Abstammung. Zwei genetische Varianten in HDAC9- und RAP1GAP-Genen wurden entdeckt. Das Produkt des HDAC9-Gens reguliert die Verpackung von DNA in der Zelle, die die Aktivit\u00e4t anderer Gene steuert.
