Es causada por la liberaci\u00f3n de prote\u00ednas inflamatorias que atraen a las c\u00e9lulas inmunitarias para combatir la infecci\u00f3n y aumentan el flujo sangu\u00edneo para promover la curaci\u00f3n. Sin embargo, a veces estas se\u00f1ales que promueven la inflamaci\u00f3n pueden ocurrir y persistir incluso cuando no son necesarias y causar da\u00f1o al cuerpo. Este estudio analiz\u00f3 los niveles de prote\u00ednas inflamatorias en la sangre y encontr\u00f3 16 variantes gen\u00e9ticas asociadas. Estas variantes explicaron hasta el 45% de la varianza en estos niveles.
