Para el coraz\u00f3n, el sistema que suministra su sangre se conoce como circulaci\u00f3n coronaria. La enfermedad de las arterias coronarias ocurre cuando las arterias coronarias se da\u00f1an o enferman. Como consecuencia de la disminuci\u00f3n del flujo sangu\u00edneo, puede llegar menos ox\u00edgeno al coraz\u00f3n. Con el tiempo, esto puede provocar ataques card\u00edacos, lo que convierte a la enfermedad de las arterias coronarias en la principal causa de muerte tanto para hombres como para mujeres. Para identificar los factores gen\u00e9ticos que contribuyen al desarrollo de la enfermedad de las arterias coronarias, este estudio examin\u00f3 a m\u00e1s de 168.000 individuos de ascendencia japonesa.
