El vitiligo es una enfermedad rara caracterizada por la destrucci\u00f3n de los melanocitos por el propio sistema inmunol\u00f3gico del cuerpo. Esto hace que las zonas de piel pierdan su color. Para comprender mejor la susceptibilidad gen\u00e9tica al vitiligo, este estudio de asociaci\u00f3n de todo el genoma examin\u00f3 los genomas de m\u00e1s de 44.000 individuos de ascendencia europea. El estudio identific\u00f3 50 variantes gen\u00e9ticas de las cuales 23 se han descubierto recientemente.
