Para identificar variantes gen\u00e9ticas asociadas con el desarrollo del c\u00e1ncer de piel, este estudio examin\u00f3 a 11.389 individuos de ascendencia europea. Las variantes m\u00e1s significativas se localizaron en los genes ATM y CASP8. La prote\u00edna codificada por el gen ATM comprueba si el ADN est\u00e1 da\u00f1ado en varias etapas del ciclo celular y activa otros genes si el ADN est\u00e1 da\u00f1ado. El gen CASP8 juega un papel esencial en la apoptosis. ATM y CASP8 tambi\u00e9n han sido implicados en otros tipos de c\u00e1nceres.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>\u00bfSAB\u00cdAS?<\/strong> Para prevenir el melanoma, debe usar protector solar (al menos 30 SPF) y ropa protectora, evitando al mismo tiempo el sol del mediod\u00eda y las camas solares.
