Sin embargo, regula las funciones corporales, como el desarrollo muscular y la fertilidad, en ambos sexos. Este estudio examin\u00f3 a m\u00e1s de 425.000 personas de ascendencia europea de la base de datos del Biobanco del Reino Unido para identificar factores gen\u00e9ticos asociados con los niveles de testosterona. Los investigadores vincularon m\u00e1s de 200 variantes gen\u00e9ticas a los niveles de testosterona en ambos sexos. Estas variantes explicaron el 17% de la heredabilidad de los niveles de testosterona en los hombres y el 13% de la heredabilidad en las mujeres.
