El c\u00e1ncer de tiroides es m\u00e1s hereditario que la mayor\u00eda de los otros tipos de c\u00e1ncer y afecta a m\u00e1s de 50.000 personas cada a\u00f1o en los Estados Unidos. Este estudio desarroll\u00f3 una puntuaci\u00f3n polig\u00e9nica basada en 10 variantes gen\u00e9ticas identificadas previamente para predecir el riesgo de c\u00e1ncer de tiroides papilar, el tipo m\u00e1s com\u00fan de enfermedad. Los investigadores encontraron que la puntuaci\u00f3n explicaba aproximadamente el 8% de la heredabilidad del c\u00e1ncer en su grupo de estudio.
