Sigui\u00f3 una epidemia que se extendi\u00f3 por 26 pa\u00edses e infect\u00f3 a m\u00e1s de 8000 personas antes de que el virus fuera contenido. Los s\u00edntomas t\u00edpicos del SARS son similares a los de la gripe, como fiebre, dolor de cabeza y sensaci\u00f3n general de malestar.
