En los adultos, la frecuencia card\u00edaca en reposo suele ser de 60 a 100 latidos por minuto. Una frecuencia card\u00edaca en reposo m\u00e1s baja indica una funci\u00f3n m\u00e1s eficiente del coraz\u00f3n y una mejor salud. Las personas que est\u00e1n en muy buena forma f\u00edsica, por ejemplo, los corredores profesionales, pueden tener una frecuencia card\u00edaca en reposo de hasta 40 latidos por minuto. Por el contrario, una frecuencia card\u00edaca en reposo elevada puede ser un predictor de presi\u00f3n arterial alta, enfermedades card\u00edacas e insuficiencia card\u00edaca. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo comprender mejor la influencia gen\u00e9tica en el rasgo mediante el an\u00e1lisis de los genomas de m\u00e1s de 265.000 individuos de diversas ascendencias.
