Il aide \u00e0 maintenir des os solides, des dents saines et peut \u00e9galement prot\u00e9ger contre un \u00e9ventail de maladies telles que le diab\u00e8te de type 1. Bien que la vitamine D ne soit pas pr\u00e9sente dans de nombreux aliments que nous mangeons, notre corps la produit naturellement en r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 l&rsquo;exposition au soleil. C&rsquo;est ce qui donne \u00e0 la vitamine D le surnom de \u00abvitamine soleil\u00bb. La vitamine D produite est ensuite trait\u00e9e par le corps dans une s\u00e9rie de r\u00e9actions chimiques. L&rsquo;une de ces r\u00e9actions transforme la vitamine D en 25-hydroxyvitamine D (25OHD), un indicateur couramment mesur\u00e9 des niveaux de vitamine D dans le corps. Cette \u00e9tude d&rsquo;association \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle du g\u00e9nome a examin\u00e9 plus de 417 000 individus d&rsquo;ascendance europ\u00e9enne pour identifier des variantes g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques li\u00e9es \u00e0 des niveaux de 25OHD. L&rsquo;\u00e9tude a trouv\u00e9 143 variantes. Beaucoup de ces variantes se trouvent \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 de g\u00e8nes actifs dans le foie, l&rsquo;organe responsable de la transformation de la vitamine D en 25OHD. D&rsquo;autres variantes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 localis\u00e9es dans des g\u00e8nes li\u00e9s \u00e0 des processus cutan\u00e9s. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>LE SAVIEZ-VOUS?<\/strong> Un faible taux de vitamine D peut entra\u00eener une gamme de probl\u00e8mes de sant\u00e9, notamment de la fatigue, des courbatures et des douleurs osseuses. Les personnes qui passent beaucoup de temps \u00e0 l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur, vivent dans des zones \u00e0 forte pollution et celles qui ont la peau plus fonc\u00e9e courent tous un risque accru de faibles niveaux de vitamine D.
