Il joue un r\u00f4le essentiel dans le contr\u00f4le du m\u00e9tabolisme du corps en r\u00e9gulant la vitesse \u00e0 laquelle nous br\u00fblons des calories et bien d&rsquo;autres choses. La thyro\u00efde elle-m\u00eame est contr\u00f4l\u00e9e par l&rsquo;hypophyse, situ\u00e9e dans le cerveau, et lib\u00e8re l&rsquo;hormone de stimulation de la thyro\u00efde (TSH) qui stimule la thyro\u00efde \u00e0 l&rsquo;action. Les taux de TSH sont couramment utilis\u00e9s pour diagnostiquer une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de troubles thyro\u00efdiens, y compris l&rsquo;hypothyro\u00efdie, l&rsquo;hyperthyro\u00efdie et le cancer de la thyro\u00efde. Cette \u00e9tude d&rsquo;association \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle du g\u00e9nome a examin\u00e9 pr\u00e8s de 120 000 individus d&rsquo;ascendance europ\u00e9enne pour mieux comprendre comment la g\u00e9n\u00e9tique peut influencer les niveaux de TSH. L&rsquo;\u00e9tude a identifi\u00e9 74 r\u00e9gions du g\u00e9nome qui semblent s&rsquo;associer aux niveaux de TSH, dont 28 sont nouvellement d\u00e9couvertes. L&rsquo;une des r\u00e9gions abrite le g\u00e8ne TSHR, qui agit comme un r\u00e9cepteur de l&rsquo;hormone thyr\u00e9ostimuline. L&rsquo;\u00e9tude a \u00e9galement r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que la pr\u00e9disposition g\u00e9n\u00e9tique \u00e0 des niveaux plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s de TSH est associ\u00e9e \u00e0 un risque r\u00e9duit de cancer de la thyro\u00efde.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>LE SAVIEZ-VOUS?<\/strong> Les femmes sont 5 \u00e0 8 fois plus susceptibles de d\u00e9velopper des troubles de la thyro\u00efde que les hommes.
