Les humains poss\u00e8dent environ 350 g\u00e8nes de r\u00e9cepteurs olfactifs qui peuvent chacun d\u00e9tecter un certain nombre de compos\u00e9s odorants diff\u00e9rents qui, ensemble, peuvent cr\u00e9er un grand nombre de parfums diff\u00e9rents. Cependant, lorsqu&rsquo;ils sont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s avec la m\u00eame odeur, diff\u00e9rents individus peuvent percevoir l&rsquo;intensit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;odeur diff\u00e9remment. Cette \u00e9tude d&rsquo;association \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle du g\u00e9nome a examin\u00e9 les g\u00e9nomes de plus de 11 000 Islandais pour identifier la g\u00e9n\u00e9tique sous-jacente aux diff\u00e9rences de perception de l&rsquo;odeur du poisson. Les chercheurs ont trouv\u00e9 une variante, localis\u00e9e dans un g\u00e8ne appel\u00e9 TAAR5, qui est associ\u00e9e \u00e0 la force avec laquelle les gens per\u00e7oivent l&rsquo;odeur du poisson. Fait int\u00e9ressant, le g\u00e8ne TAAR5 code pour un r\u00e9cepteur olfactif qui s&rsquo;est av\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00eatre activ\u00e9 par des mol\u00e9cules d&rsquo;odeur pr\u00e9sentes dans le saumon pourri mais pas frais.
