Les humains poss\u00e8dent environ 350 g\u00e8nes de r\u00e9cepteurs olfactifs qui peuvent chacun d\u00e9tecter un certain nombre de compos\u00e9s odorants diff\u00e9rents qui, ensemble, peuvent cr\u00e9er un grand nombre de parfums diff\u00e9rents. Cependant, lorsqu&rsquo;ils sont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s avec la m\u00eame odeur, diff\u00e9rentes personnes varient dans leur capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 identifier l&rsquo;odeur. Cette \u00e9tude d&rsquo;association \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle du g\u00e9nome a examin\u00e9 les g\u00e9nomes de plus de 11 000 Islandais pour identifier les diff\u00e9rences g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques sous-jacentes dans la d\u00e9tection de l&rsquo;odeur de cannelle. Les chercheurs ont d\u00e9couvert une r\u00e9gion du g\u00e9nome associ\u00e9e \u00e0 la capacit\u00e9 d&rsquo;un individu \u00e0 reconna\u00eetre l&rsquo;odeur de la cannelle.
