L&rsquo;insuline, une hormone produite par le pancr\u00e9as, aide les cellules du corps \u00e0 absorber le glucose du sang et \u00e0 l&rsquo;utiliser comme source d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie. Le diab\u00e8te de type 2 (DT2) survient lorsque le pancr\u00e9as ne produit pas suffisamment d&rsquo;insuline ou lorsque les cellules du corps ne r\u00e9pondent pas \u00e0 l&rsquo;insuline. Cela entra\u00eene une glyc\u00e9mie \u00e9lev\u00e9e qui peut endommager les nerfs, les vaisseaux sanguins, les reins et d&rsquo;autres organes. Si les facteurs environnementaux, en particulier l&rsquo;alimentation, sont des facteurs de risque de DT2, une sensibilit\u00e9 peut \u00e9galement \u00eatre h\u00e9rit\u00e9e. Cette \u00e9tude multiethnique \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle du g\u00e9nome de plus de 71 000 individus a identifi\u00e9 un nouveau locus associ\u00e9 au risque de d\u00e9velopper un DT2, portant le nombre total de locus connus \u00e0 10. La nouvelle variante est proche de la<a href=\"https:\/\/nebula.org\/blog\/fr\/apolipoproteine-e-apoe\/\"> APOE<\/a> g\u00e8ne, qui aide \u00e0 transporter les graisses dans le sang. L&rsquo;APOE a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment associ\u00e9e \u00e0 plusieurs autres troubles, y compris la maladie d&rsquo;Alzheimer.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>LE SAVIEZ-VOUS?<\/strong> On estime que 80% de tous les cas de diab\u00e8te de type 2 peuvent \u00eatre \u00e9vit\u00e9s en adoptant un mode de vie plus sain.
