Les caillots sanguins qui se d\u00e9tachent et se d\u00e9placent vers les organes peuvent entra\u00eener des conditions potentiellement mortelles. Bien que la coagulation du sang soit courante, les facteurs de risque g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques contributifs sont mal compris. Cette \u00e9tude d&rsquo;association \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle du g\u00e9nome a examin\u00e9 200 000 individus d&rsquo;ascendance europ\u00e9enne et afro-am\u00e9ricaine pour identifier les variantes g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques associ\u00e9es \u00e0 la thromboembolie veineuse. L&rsquo;\u00e9tude a d\u00e9couvert 14 nouvelles variantes, dont 11 variantes au sein de g\u00e8nes non associ\u00e9s auparavant \u00e0 la thromboembolie veineuse. Un grand nombre de ces g\u00e8nes ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 li\u00e9s \u00e0 la num\u00e9ration et \u00e0 la taille de diff\u00e9rents types de cellules sanguines. Cela sugg\u00e8re que les traits sanguins peuvent contribuer \u00e0 d\u00e9terminer le risque. He earned an M.S. and is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences (BBS) Ph.D. program at Harvard University.\u00a0He has experience in science policy as an intern at the Science and Innovation Network where he assisted in the science diplomacy functions of the British Consulate-General and as a research associate at TScan Therapeutics.
