En fait, \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e2ge de 50 ans, environ 50% des hommes souffrent d&rsquo;un amincissement majeur des cheveux, conduisant finalement \u00e0 une r\u00e9gion chauve entour\u00e9e de cheveux en forme de fer \u00e0 cheval. Ceci est connu sous le nom de calvitie masculine (MPB). La MBP est un trouble h\u00e9r\u00e9ditaire courant qui est li\u00e9 aux niveaux de testost\u00e9rone et est souvent associ\u00e9 \u00e0 des probl\u00e8mes de sant\u00e9 graves, tels qu&rsquo;un risque accru de cancer de la prostate, de maladie cardiaque et de diab\u00e8te. Cependant, la base g\u00e9n\u00e9tique sous-jacente du MPB reste mal comprise. Cette \u00e9tude d&rsquo;association pang\u00e9nomique qui a examin\u00e9 les g\u00e9nomes de plus de 70 000 hommes. L&rsquo;\u00e9tude a identifi\u00e9 107 variantes g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques associ\u00e9es au MPB dans 71 r\u00e9gions g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques, dont 30 sont nouvelles. Collectivement, ces variantes expliquent 38% de l&rsquo;h\u00e9ritabilit\u00e9 du MPB. La plupart des variantes d\u00e9couvertes se trouvent \u00e0 l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur ou \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 de g\u00e8nes qui jouent un r\u00f4le dans la croissance des cheveux et la r\u00e9ponse des cellules du follicule pileux \u00e0 la testost\u00e9rone.<br\/><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>LE SAVIEZ-VOUS?<\/strong> Un mythe courant est que si vous \u00eates un homme, le DPP peut \u00eatre retrac\u00e9 jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 votre grand-p\u00e8re maternel. Cependant, ce n&rsquo;est pas tout \u00e0 fait exact. Un g\u00e8ne bien caract\u00e9ris\u00e9 li\u00e9 au MPB aide les cellules du follicule pileux \u00e0 d\u00e9tecter la testost\u00e9rone, et la testost\u00e9rone est connue pour affecter la croissance des cheveux. Ce g\u00e8ne est situ\u00e9 sur le chromosome X, ce qui signifie que pour les hommes, il est h\u00e9rit\u00e9 de leur m\u00e8re.
