Elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 associ\u00e9e \u00e0 l&rsquo;isolement social, \u00e0 la d\u00e9pression et peut \u00eatre un facteur de risque de d\u00e9mence. Bien que consid\u00e9r\u00e9s comme hautement h\u00e9r\u00e9ditaires, les facteurs g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques associ\u00e9s \u00e0 une pr\u00e9disposition \u00e0 la d\u00e9ficience auditive li\u00e9e \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e2ge (ARHI) restent largement inconnus. Cette \u00e9tude d&rsquo;association \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle du g\u00e9nome a d\u00e9couvert 44 variantes associ\u00e9es \u00e0 l&rsquo;ARHI apr\u00e8s avoir examin\u00e9 plus de 250 000 personnes d&rsquo;ascendance europ\u00e9enne \u00e2g\u00e9es de 40 \u00e0 65 ans. Beaucoup de ces variantes sont proches de g\u00e8nes qui jouent un r\u00f4le dans le d\u00e9veloppement et le fonctionnement de l&rsquo;oreille interne. Certaines des variantes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment associ\u00e9es \u00e0 des troubles de la personnalit\u00e9 multiples et \u00e0 des traits psychologiques.
