Sa pr\u00e9valence augmente dans le monde entier. Bien que les \u00e9tudes d&rsquo;association \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle du g\u00e9nome aient identifi\u00e9 ~ 1000 variantes g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques associ\u00e9es \u00e0 l&rsquo;indice de masse corporelle (IMC), qui est un proxy de l&rsquo;ob\u00e9sit\u00e9, ces variantes g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques n&rsquo;expliquent que ~ 6% de l&rsquo;h\u00e9ritabilit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;IMC. Dans cette \u00e9tude, les chercheurs ont examin\u00e9 les g\u00e9nomes de plus de 4 600 Groenlandais. Il s&rsquo;agit d&rsquo;une population isol\u00e9e qui abrite une diversit\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9tique introuvable ailleurs, afin d&rsquo;identifier d&rsquo;autres variantes g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques associ\u00e9es \u00e0 l&rsquo;IMC. Ils ont d\u00e9couvert une variante g\u00e9n\u00e9tique sur le chromosome 11, rs4936356, situ\u00e9 dans un<em> interg\u00e9nique<\/em> R\u00e9gion. L&rsquo;all\u00e8le d&rsquo;effet est significativement associ\u00e9 \u00e0 un IMC inf\u00e9rieur, une r\u00e9sistance \u00e0 l&rsquo;insuline plus faible et des taux de lipides sanguins favorables.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>LE SAVIEZ-VOUS?<\/strong> Historiquement, les Groenlandais ont d\u00fb supporter de longues p\u00e9riodes de je\u00fbne en raison de l&rsquo;approvisionnement alimentaire limit\u00e9. En raison de leur situation g\u00e9ographique, leur r\u00e9gime alimentaire est riche en graisses, principalement compos\u00e9 de poisson.
