Os c\u00e2nceres de mama s\u00e3o classificados de acordo com os receptores das c\u00e9lulas cancerosas do lado de fora. Esta classifica\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 \u00fatil para prever resultados e tratamentos eficazes. O c\u00e2ncer de mama triplo-negativo \u00e9 qualquer tipo de c\u00e2ncer de mama que n\u00e3o possui receptor de estrog\u00eanio, receptor de progesterona, nem receptor do fator de crescimento epid\u00e9rmico humano 2 (HER2). Os c\u00e2nceres de mama triplo-negativos ainda s\u00e3o bastante heterog\u00eaneos, com alguns subtipos sendo mais agressivos do que outros. 15-20% de todos os casos de c\u00e2ncer de mama s\u00e3o c\u00e2nceres de mama triplo-negativos. Esses c\u00e2nceres geralmente tamb\u00e9m apresentam muta\u00e7\u00f5es no gene BRCA1. Este estudo de associa\u00e7\u00e3o do genoma examinou quase 266.000 indiv\u00edduos de ascend\u00eancia europeia para identificar variantes gen\u00e9ticas associadas a diferentes tipos de c\u00e2ncer de mama, incluindo c\u00e2ncer de mama triplo-negativo. No total, os pesquisadores identificaram 330 regi\u00f5es gen\u00f4micas associadas a tipos de c\u00e2ncer de mama e as usaram para calcular pontua\u00e7\u00f5es polig\u00eanicas. Curiosamente, algumas variantes foram encontradas para reduzir o risco de alguns tipos de c\u00e2ncer de mama enquanto aumentam o risco de outros. Por exemplo, o alelo G de rs78378222, uma variante associada ao gene supressor de tumor TP53, \u00e9 protetor contra o c\u00e2ncer de mama triplo-negativo, mas aumenta o risco de c\u00e2ncer de mama tipo B luminal. Juntas, todas as variantes identificadas explicam aproximadamente 37,6% da herdabilidade para c\u00e2ncer de mama triplo-negativo.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>VOC\u00ca SABIA?<\/strong> Uma vez que os c\u00e2nceres de mama triplo-negativos est\u00e3o associados a muta\u00e7\u00f5es BRCA1, algumas pesquisas sugerem que mulheres com c\u00e2ncer de mama triplo-negativo tamb\u00e9m devem ser testadas para ver se elas carregam alguma muta\u00e7\u00e3o BRCA1.
