Mais especificamente, as prote\u00ednas s\u00e3o m\u00e1quinas moleculares que cumprem muitas fun\u00e7\u00f5es dentro e fora das c\u00e9lulas. As prote\u00ednas s\u00e3o feitas de 20 blocos de constru\u00e7\u00e3o conhecidos como amino\u00e1cidos. Embora nossos corpos possam produzir 11 dos 20 amino\u00e1cidos, os 9 restantes devem ser consumidos por meio dos alimentos que comemos. Em m\u00e9dia, os indiv\u00edduos consomem aproximadamente 7 gramas de prote\u00edna por 20 libras de peso corporal por dia. Embora a prote\u00edna seja essencial, o consumo excessivo de prote\u00edna pode resultar em dist\u00farbios metab\u00f3licos, como obesidade e diabetes. Para identificar as variantes gen\u00e9ticas que podem afetar a quantidade de prote\u00edna que um indiv\u00edduo consome, este estudo de associa\u00e7\u00e3o do genoma examinou os genomas de mais de 260.000 indiv\u00edduos de ascend\u00eancia europeia. O estudo identificou 7 variantes gen\u00e9ticas associadas ao consumo de prote\u00ednas. A predisposi\u00e7\u00e3o gen\u00e9tica para maior consumo de prote\u00edna foi encontrada para ser correlacionada com obesidade, diabetes tipo 2, doen\u00e7a card\u00edaca e \u00edndice de massa corporal (IMC). Os autores levantam a hip\u00f3tese de que o consumo de prote\u00edna animal, ao contr\u00e1rio do consumo de prote\u00edna vegetal, provavelmente est\u00e1 conduzindo a correla\u00e7\u00e3o positiva com problemas de sa\u00fade.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>VOC\u00ca SABIA?<\/strong> Embora haja pesquisas conflitantes sobre se o consumo de carne vermelha \u00e9 prejudicial ou n\u00e3o, a maioria das evid\u00eancias ap\u00f3ia o alto consumo de carne vermelha, contribuindo para v\u00e1rios riscos \u00e0 sa\u00fade.
