As feridas cr\u00f4nicas s\u00e3o definidas como feridas que n\u00e3o mostram sinais de cicatriza\u00e7\u00e3o ap\u00f3s um per\u00edodo de 3 ou mais semanas. Estudos anteriores mostraram que a cura bem-sucedida de uma ferida \u00e9 afetada pela composi\u00e7\u00e3o do microbioma da ferida. Por exemplo, feridas que s\u00e3o predominantemente colonizadas por apenas algumas esp\u00e9cies de micr\u00f3bios (= baixa diversidade de microbioma) parecem cicatrizar em um ritmo mais lento. Este estudo buscou encontrar marcadores gen\u00e9ticos associados \u00e0 diversidade de microbiomas em feridas cr\u00f4nicas. Ao examinar a informa\u00e7\u00e3o gen\u00e9tica de quase 80 pacientes, o estudo identificou 6 variantes gen\u00e9ticas que podem ser usadas para calcular uma pontua\u00e7\u00e3o polig\u00eanica que explica 53% da varia\u00e7\u00e3o na diversidade do microbioma da ferida.
