Os humanos t\u00eam cerca de 350 genes de receptores olfativos e cada um pode detectar uma s\u00e9rie de compostos de odor diferentes que, juntos, podem criar um grande n\u00famero de cheiros diferentes. No entanto, quando apresentado com o mesmo cheiro, diferentes indiv\u00edduos variam em sua capacidade de identificar o cheiro. Este estudo de associa\u00e7\u00e3o de todo o genoma analisou os genomas de mais de 11.000 islandeses para identificar as diferen\u00e7as gen\u00e9ticas subjacentes na detec\u00e7\u00e3o do cheiro de canela. Os pesquisadores descobriram uma regi\u00e3o do genoma associada \u00e0 capacidade do indiv\u00edduo de reconhecer o cheiro da canela. He earned an M.S. and is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences (BBS) Ph.D. program at Harvard University.\u00a0He has experience in science policy as an intern at the Science and Innovation Network where he assisted in the science diplomacy functions of the British Consulate-General and as a research associate at TScan Therapeutics.
