Como o para-brisa de um carro, a c\u00f3rnea permite que voc\u00ea veja com clareza enquanto protege a parte interna do olho. Ceratocone \u00e9 uma doen\u00e7a caracterizada por adelga\u00e7amento e deforma\u00e7\u00e3o da c\u00f3rnea que pode levar \u00e0 vis\u00e3o emba\u00e7ada e miopia. Este estudo de associa\u00e7\u00e3o de todo o genoma buscou descobrir variantes associadas a um risco aumentado de desenvolver ceratocone. Ao examinar as informa\u00e7\u00f5es gen\u00e9ticas de quase 6.000 indiv\u00edduos, os pesquisadores identificaram tr\u00eas regi\u00f5es gen\u00e9ticas associadas \u00e0 doen\u00e7a.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>VOC\u00ca SABIA?<\/strong> O uso prolongado de lentes de contato pode reduzir a espessura da c\u00f3rnea.
