Quase 10% de todos os casos de c\u00e2ncer de mama s\u00e3o considerados heredit\u00e1rios. Este estudo examinou dados gen\u00e9ticos de mais de 215.000 mulheres de ascend\u00eancia europeia para identificar regi\u00f5es gen\u00e9ticas associadas a um risco aumentado de desenvolver c\u00e2ncer de mama. A an\u00e1lise descobriu 206 variantes em 129 regi\u00f5es gen\u00f4micas fortemente associadas ao risco de c\u00e2ncer de mama. Coletivamente, essas variantes gen\u00e9ticas explicam mais de 20% do risco de c\u00e2ncer heredit\u00e1rio. Muitas das variantes descobertas est\u00e3o pr\u00f3ximas a genes relacionados ao sistema imunol\u00f3gico, o que indica sua import\u00e2ncia na prote\u00e7\u00e3o contra o c\u00e2ncer.<br\/><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>VOC\u00ca SABIA?<\/strong> A pesquisa sugere que a exposi\u00e7\u00e3o a longo prazo a alguns pl\u00e1sticos pode aumentar o risco de desenvolver c\u00e2ncer de mama. Em particular, os pl\u00e1sticos que cont\u00eam bisfenol A (BPA). Acredita-se que ele interfira no sistema hormonal, imitando o horm\u00f4nio sexual feminino, o estrog\u00eanio.
