Anos de uso e desgaste podem prejudicar seus joelhos, causando dor. Na verdade, cerca de 50% dos indiv\u00edduos com mais de 50 anos apresentam essa condi\u00e7\u00e3o. Para entender melhor a base gen\u00e9tica da dor no joelho, os pesquisadores conduziram um estudo de associa\u00e7\u00e3o do genoma que examinou os genomas de mais de 170.000 indiv\u00edduos de ascend\u00eancia europeia. O estudo identificou 2 variantes gen\u00e9ticas associadas \u00e0 dor no joelho. Destas variantes gen\u00e9ticas, uma est\u00e1 localizada perto de um gene previamente implicado na osteoartrite. A osteoartrite \u00e9 o desgaste do tecido flex\u00edvel e protetor conhecido como cartilagem nas extremidades dos ossos. A outra variante est\u00e1 localizada perto de um gene importante para a convers\u00e3o da cartilagem em osso.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>VOC\u00ca SABIA?<\/strong> O esqueleto humano \u00e9 composto por mais de 200 ossos!
