Em adultos, a freq\u00fc\u00eancia card\u00edaca em repouso \u00e9 normalmente de 60 a 100 batimentos por minuto. Uma frequ\u00eancia card\u00edaca de repouso mais baixa indica um funcionamento mais eficiente do cora\u00e7\u00e3o e uma sa\u00fade melhor. Pessoas que est\u00e3o fisicamente em boa forma, por exemplo, corredores profissionais, podem ter uma freq\u00fc\u00eancia card\u00edaca em repouso de at\u00e9 40 batimentos por minuto! Por outro lado, uma frequ\u00eancia card\u00edaca elevada em repouso pode ser um indicador de hipertens\u00e3o, doen\u00e7as card\u00edacas e insufici\u00eancia card\u00edaca. Este estudo teve como objetivo compreender melhor a influ\u00eancia gen\u00e9tica na caracter\u00edstica, analisando os genomas de mais de 265.000 indiv\u00edduos de v\u00e1rias linhagens. O estudo identificou 64 loci gen\u00e9ticos, incluindo 46 novos loci, que se correlacionam com a frequ\u00eancia card\u00edaca em repouso. Juntas, todas as variantes gen\u00e9ticas identificadas explicam cerca de 2,5% da vari\u00e2ncia total da caracter\u00edstica.
