Embora seja um debate em andamento na comunidade cient\u00edfica, acredita-se que o v\u00edcio em coisas como comer compartilha mecanismos com o v\u00edcio em drogas. Esse v\u00edcio pode envolver a compuls\u00e3o alimentar e a falta de controle sobre os alimentos, colocando as pessoas afetadas em alto risco de desenvolver obesidade. Para identificar variantes gen\u00e9ticas que est\u00e3o associadas a esse tipo de v\u00edcio, este estudo examinou os genomas de 9.314 mulheres de ascend\u00eancia europeia. Os pesquisadores descobriram que 2 loci est\u00e3o correlacionados com o v\u00edcio em certos tipos de alimentos. O primeiro locus est\u00e1 em um gene que desempenha um papel no metabolismo dos alimentos, e o outro estava anteriormente ligado ao desenvolvimento do c\u00e9rebro.
