Estudos t\u00eam mostrado que a idade biol\u00f3gica pode ser estimada medindo as modifica\u00e7\u00f5es do DNA, conhecidas como metila\u00e7\u00e3o, em todo o genoma. A presen\u00e7a dessas modifica\u00e7\u00f5es associadas ao envelhecimento \u00e9 influenciada por fatores ambientais (por exemplo, estilo de vida) e tamb\u00e9m por fatores gen\u00e9ticos. Este estudo de associa\u00e7\u00e3o do genoma examinou os genomas de quase 13.500 indiv\u00edduos de ascend\u00eancia europeia e descobriu 10 variantes gen\u00e9ticas que est\u00e3o associadas a perfis de metila\u00e7\u00e3o do DNA que est\u00e3o ligados ao envelhecimento biol\u00f3gico acelerado.
