No entanto, as apresenta\u00e7\u00f5es cr\u00f4nicas da condi\u00e7\u00e3o t\u00eam sido associadas a muitas doen\u00e7as, incluindo diabetes tipo 2 e doen\u00e7as cardiovasculares. A inflama\u00e7\u00e3o pode ser avaliada medindo os n\u00edveis de prote\u00edna C reativa (CRP) no sangue, que normalmente aumentam se houver inflama\u00e7\u00e3o no corpo.
