A vitamina ajuda a garantir que o corpo absorva e retenha os minerais c\u00e1lcio e f\u00f3sforo, que s\u00e3o importantes para a constru\u00e7\u00e3o de ossos fortes. Neste estudo, os pesquisadores tiveram como objetivo compreender os determinantes gen\u00e9ticos dos n\u00edveis de vitamina D, conduzindo um estudo de associa\u00e7\u00e3o do genoma de aproximadamente 400.000 indiv\u00edduos de ascend\u00eancia europeia. O estudo identificou 69 regi\u00f5es gen\u00e9ticas associadas aos n\u00edveis da vitamina, das quais 63 s\u00e3o novas.
