O comprimento do tel\u00f4mero (TL) \u00e9 normalmente medido em<em> leuc\u00f3citos<\/em> de amostras de sangue. Pode ser usado como um<em> biomarcador<\/em> para envelhecimento e doen\u00e7as relacionadas com a idade, como doen\u00e7a arterial coronariana e alguns tipos de c\u00e2ncer. Este genoma todo<em> meta-an\u00e1lise<\/em> de mais de 78.000 indiv\u00edduos de ascend\u00eancia europeia procuraram identificar regi\u00f5es gen\u00f4micas associadas com LT de leuc\u00f3citos para entender melhor como o comprimento dos tel\u00f4meros \u00e9 regulado. O estudo relatou 20 regi\u00f5es gen\u00f4micas associadas a LT de leuc\u00f3citos, incluindo 6 que s\u00e3o relatadas pela primeira vez.
