Este estudo teve como objetivo compreender a base gen\u00e9tica do momento da puberdade masculina especificamente, usando a quebra de voz como uma proxy para a puberdade. Para tanto, os pesquisadores examinaram os genomas de mais de 200.000 homens de ascend\u00eancia europeia. O estudo descobriu 76 regi\u00f5es gen\u00f4micas associadas ao momento da puberdade masculina, 29 das quais s\u00e3o novas. Essas regi\u00f5es gen\u00f4micas est\u00e3o ligadas a genes, como ALX4 e SRD5A2, que est\u00e3o envolvidos na sinaliza\u00e7\u00e3o de um fator de crescimento e na convers\u00e3o de<em> testosterona<\/em> em um horm\u00f4nio masculino mais potente, a diidrotestosterona. Al\u00e9m disso, o estudo identificou liga\u00e7\u00f5es gen\u00e9ticas inesperadas entre o per\u00edodo da puberdade e a cor do cabelo. Por exemplo, homens com cores de cabelo mais escuras eram mais propensos a ter um per\u00edodo de puberdade mais precoce em rela\u00e7\u00e3o aos homens com cabelos mais claros.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>VOC\u00ca SABIA?<\/strong> Durante a puberdade, a laringe do homem, ou \u201ccaixa vocal\u201d, realmente aumenta de tamanho.
