Considera-se que os fatores gen\u00e9ticos desempenham um papel na determina\u00e7\u00e3o do risco de uma pessoa desenvolver essa condi\u00e7\u00e3o. Este estudo de associa\u00e7\u00e3o do genoma examinou mais de 140.000 indiv\u00edduos de ascend\u00eancia europ\u00e9ia para identificar variantes gen\u00e9ticas associadas \u00e0 hipertens\u00e3o. O estudo identificou 107 variantes, das quais 32 eram novas.
