Este estudo examinou 18.419 indiv\u00edduos de ascend\u00eancia europeia e identificou uma variante no gene GNL3 que est\u00e1 associada \u00e0 doen\u00e7a. A prote\u00edna GNL3, tamb\u00e9m conhecida como nucleostemina, \u00e9 essencial para regular o ciclo celular nas c\u00e9lulas-tronco. Embora a rela\u00e7\u00e3o exata entre o nucleostemino e as c\u00e9lulas da cartilagem seja desconhecida, estudos mostraram que n\u00edveis aumentados da prote\u00edna do nucleostemino s\u00e3o encontrados em pacientes com osteoartrite. He earned an M.S. and is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences (BBS) Ph.D. program at Harvard University.\u00a0He has experience in science policy as an intern at the Science and Innovation Network where he assisted in the science diplomacy functions of the British Consulate-General and as a research associate at TScan Therapeutics.
