Para entender melhor a gen\u00e9tica que ajuda a determinar o risco de c\u00e2ncer pancre\u00e1tico, este estudo examinou 21.494 indiv\u00edduos de ascend\u00eancia europeia e asi\u00e1tica. Ele identificou tr\u00eas novas variantes gen\u00e9ticas associadas a um risco aumentado de desenvolver esta condi\u00e7\u00e3o. Uma dessas variantes estava no gene LINC00673, que anteriormente havia desempenhado um papel no c\u00e2ncer. Outra variante significativa foi localizada no gene SUGCT. A prote\u00edna SUGCT est\u00e1 envolvida no metabolismo do amino\u00e1cido glutarato. Finalmente, descobriu-se que uma variante do gene TP63 estava associada. TP63 tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 conhecido como p63 e desempenha um papel na regula\u00e7\u00e3o do ciclo celular e na progress\u00e3o dos tumores. Coletivamente, as variantes identificadas foram respons\u00e1veis por cerca de 2% da herdabilidade desta doen\u00e7a.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>VOC\u00ca SABIA?<\/strong> N\u00e3o fumar, manter um peso saud\u00e1vel, limitar o consumo de \u00e1lcool e evitar a exposi\u00e7\u00e3o a certos produtos qu\u00edmicos no local de trabalho s\u00e3o maneiras de reduzir o risco de c\u00e2ncer pancre\u00e1tico.
