Para encontrar variantes gen\u00e9ticas que se correlacionam com a idade em que os ciclos menstruais das mulheres param, este estudo examinou 38.968 mulheres de ascend\u00eancia europeia. A faixa et\u00e1ria normal da menopausa utilizada neste estudo foi de 45-54, portanto, a condi\u00e7\u00e3o antes dos 45 anos foi considerada precoce e ap\u00f3s 54 anos foi considerada tardia. As variantes gen\u00e9ticas identificadas neste estudo explicaram menos de 1,5% da herdabilidade. Muitas das variantes gen\u00e9ticas associadas ao momento da menopausa foram associadas ao reparo do DNA e \u00e0 fun\u00e7\u00e3o imunol\u00f3gica. Al\u00e9m disso, descobriu-se que a disfun\u00e7\u00e3o mitocondrial est\u00e1 relacionada \u00e0 idade da menopausa. A mitoc\u00f4ndria \u00e9 comumente referida como a &#8220;usina de for\u00e7a da c\u00e9lula&#8221; &#8211; \u00e9 onde a maior parte da energia qu\u00edmica em nossas c\u00e9lulas \u00e9 produzida. Se a mitoc\u00f4ndria n\u00e3o funcionar corretamente na c\u00e9lula, ela influencia muito o progresso de uma s\u00e9rie de doen\u00e7as e dist\u00farbios, bem como a idade da condi\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>VOC\u00ca SABIA?<\/strong> Alguns pesquisadores afirmam que a dieta pode influenciar o momento da menopausa.
