Podem ocorrer complica\u00e7\u00f5es de sa\u00fade significativas para o beb\u00ea e a m\u00e3e se o parto for prematuro (prematuro) ou tardio (p\u00f3s-termo). Embora estudos anteriores tenham examinado a influ\u00eancia da gen\u00e9tica da m\u00e3e na dura\u00e7\u00e3o da gesta\u00e7\u00e3o, nenhum estudou a contribui\u00e7\u00e3o da gen\u00e9tica do feto. Este estudo de associa\u00e7\u00e3o do genoma analisou os dados gen\u00e9ticos de 93.980 beb\u00eas de ascend\u00eancia europeia e encontrou uma variante gen\u00e9tica correlacionada com o nascimento p\u00f3s-termo.
