Quanto mais inteligente uma pessoa for, maior ser\u00e1 a probabilidade de ela levar uma vida longa e saud\u00e1vel e menos probabilidade de experimentar eventos negativos na vida, como a fal\u00eancia. Para entender melhor a influ\u00eancia gen\u00e9tica da intelig\u00eancia, este estudo analisou dados de v\u00e1rios estudos anteriores de associa\u00e7\u00e3o do genoma. No total, 78.308 indiv\u00edduos de ascend\u00eancia europeia foram examinados quanto aos efeitos da gen\u00e9tica na intelig\u00eancia. A maioria das variantes rec\u00e9m-descobertas estava em genes que s\u00e3o predominantemente ativos no c\u00e9rebro e est\u00e3o envolvidos na regula\u00e7\u00e3o do desenvolvimento celular. Essas variantes ajudam a explicar ~ 5% da herdabilidade.
